Crypto Advocate Pierre Poilievre Elected as Leader of Canada’s Conservative Party

Pierre Poilievre, a Bitcoin-friendly man, was elected Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, September 11.

Pierre Marcel Poilievre (Canadian politician) has been leader of the Conservative Party of Canada since 2004 and leader of Canada’s Official Opposition since 2022. Poilievre was a member since 2004.

On September 20, the House of Representatives of Canada will resume its session. Poliyev, in his new role as the leader of the Conservative Party, will challenge the Trudeau government over a variety of issues.

He is a strong cryptocurrency advocate and publicly supports allowing Canadians bitcoin to be legal currency.

He saw cryptocurrencies as a means to get people back control over their currencies, and as a way out of inflation.

Pierre Poilievre has previously promised that if he becomes Prime Minister of Canada, he will “unlock” the potential of cryptocurrencies by consulting with provincial authorities, helping to unravel the regulatory web that currently governs cryptocurrencies, and making Canada “the world’s blockchain leader.” 

Canada has been closely watching security-related issues in addition to the rise of crypto.

According to Blockchain.News, the Canadian market regulators have issued warnings against cryptocurrency service providers that mislead investors by using gambling-style advertisements.

In the report, it was stated that market regulators have released a detailed guideline to assist all parties market their products and/or services under the Canadian securities exemption.

Alberta, Canada’s most oil-rich province is actively looking to build the region’s tech industry, including mining digital tokens, building data centers, and attracting high-tech workforces.
